The plant can produce 194 000 tons of pulp per year and has 197 employees. It belongs to the Rottneros koncern. Ångpanneföreningen Research Foundation was founded in 1983. Its objectives are to promote research and development in energy, encvironment, and safety. AN ÅFORSK PROJECT WITH VALLVIKS BRUK In 2006, GoalArt performed an Åforsk study on the alarm cascade that preceded the accident in 1998, when the plant MESA boiler suffered an explosive fire.
