IFE Halden The Research Institute for Energy and Nuclear Technology in Norway is an independent foundation established in 1948 with departments at Kjeller and in Halden. With a staff of about 530, IFE is an international research center for nuclear and energy technology. IFE's nuclear technology comprises all activities that are directly or indirectly related to the Institute's two research reactors, in Halden and at Kjeller. The Institute is divided into five sectors: Nuclear Technology and Physics; Nuclear Safety and Reliability; Safety Man-Technology-Organization; Petroleum Technology; and Energy and Environmental. A GOALART PROJECT WITH IFE HALDEN In 2002, GoalArt performed a project with Barsebäck, Oskarshamn, Ringhals, and IFE Halden. Root cause analysis and state-based alarm priority were succesfully tested and evaluated. From 2005, GoalArt is a subcontractor to IFE Halden in a joint research project with Forsmark, Oskarshamn, and Ringhals in Sweden, and Loviisa and Olkiluoto in Finland. This project aims at a full-scale implementation of root cause analysis and state-based alarm priority for the Hambo simulator, which is based on the Forsmark 3 unit. Modeling and software integration will be finished in the summer of 2006, followed by HMI design and user tests with operator crews from all participating plants in 2006-2007.
